Stephen A Maleszewski of Destin passed away July 22, 2017 in Miramar Beach, Fl.
Steve was born in Ramapo, New York to the late John J. Maleszewski, Sr. and Carolina Kowalczyk Maleszewski. He joined the United States Navy during World War II and served his country along with his six brothers. The "Fighting Maleszewskis" have been featured in various publications including LIFE Magazine. After the war, Steve joined his brother John as co-owner of the Spyglass Inn in Destin, a historical motel that hosted the likes of famous movie stars, athletes and politicians. He was one of the very first residents of Sandestin. For the last 20 years Steve was very involved in the Catholic Church serving as a Catholic Evangelizer and was a 4th Degree in the Knights of Columbus. He was also involved in numerous charity organizations, doing charity work on a daily basis in Northwest Florida. Steve was an avid golfer, Florida State Seminoles fan and a member of the Presidents Club of FSU.
Steve is survived by brother Thomas Maleszewski of Chipley and sister Sophia Burnett of Destin; and a host of nieces, nephews and longtime friends. He was preceded in death by his parents John Sr. and Carolina and brothers Chester, Francis, Joe, Eddie, and John. A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Steve's life will be held Thursday, July 27th at 11am at St Rita Catholic Church in Santa Rosa Beach with Father Kevin Johnson officiating. Interment will take place immediately after the mass at Beal Memorial Cemetery in Fort Walton Beach.
