Alfred J Poussart, Jr.

Alfred J. Poussart, Jr., 92, of Cape May Court House, NJ, and formerly of Niceville, Florida, passed away on November 22, 2018.  Born in Manhattan, New York City, in July 1926 to Freida (Kulli) and Alfred J. Poussart, Sr., Al resided in New York for almost 40 years.  At the age of 17, Al enlisted in the US Navy and served during World War II in the Pacific Ocean aboard the USS Ottawa AKA 101, an Attack Transport ship.  Al worked as an Electrical Supervisor at the Brooklyn Naval Shipyard and was later transferred to the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard.  He retired in 1981 and moved with his wife Bert to Niceville, FL.  Al had many hobbies including fishing, scuba diving, and cross stitching.  Al dedicated much of his time in later years as a volunteer in the Niceville and Valparaiso communities.  Al was a volunteer and Sergeant-at-Arms for the American Legion Post 221 in Niceville and a member of The Forty and Eight Society.  A beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, Al will be missed by many.  Al was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Bertha “Bert” Poussart, and his sister, Frances Dauber.  Survivors include his children; Thomas (Ellen) Poussart of Villas, NJ, Kathleen Oddo of Kennett Square, PA, Karen (Christopher) Price of Aston, PA; his grandchildren, Melissa Poussart of MD, Daniel (Danielle) Poussart of NJ, Vincent (Christina) Oddo, Jennifer Oddo, Sheri Smith and Staci Smith all of PA; his brother Robert (Mary Ellen) Poussart of OH; his former spouse/mother of his children, Dorothy Chew of PA, and many nieces and nephews.  Services and interment will be private.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Al’s memory to National Nurses Training Club of the 40 and 8 Society, Disabled American Veterans or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
