Tribute

Ms. Angela Ramona Alonso Veal, 84, of Mary Esther, Florida passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 12, 2023, surrounded by her family.

Angela was born in Jacksonville, Florida, the only child of Blanche (Groover) and Angelo Alonso.  She attended Florida State University and studied medical technology.  In 1961, she married Michael Boynton Veal and moved with him to Fort Worth, Texas where they began raising their family.

Angela was a homemaker and later entered the clinical laboratory field as a Medical Technologist.  In 1972, the family moved to Fort Walton Beach and Angela continued her medical technology career, leading the laboratory at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center as Laboratory Supervisor for over 30 years.  She also became a licensed realtor, and after her retirement from the hospital, continued a career in real estate.

Angela enjoyed the local beaches, waterways, and sailing.  She was also involved in many community organizations in the Navarre Beach area.  She was a caring and giving friend, as well as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She will be missed by the many people to whom she became close and whose lives she touched by her friendship.

Angela is survived by her two children Kimberley (Scott) Patterson and Michael (Dru) Veal; her three grandchildren Elizabeth (Cameron) Shepherd, Michael Patterson, and Dorothy Patterson; one great-granddaughter Helen Shepherd; and second cousins Toñeta Alonso (Albert) Roseté, Maí, Malena, Enrique, Gonzalo and Cote.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 11:00 am at Saint Simon’s on the Sound Episcopal Church in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.  A luncheon reception will follow at the Magnolia Grill in Fort Walton.

Interment will take place at a later date at Evergreen Cemetery in Jacksonville, Florida, near her parents.

The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers and sends sincere thanks to the staff at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center and Select Specialty Hospital of Pensacola, and especially to Angela’s close friends and neighbors, for the care and comfort provided to Angela during her illness.
