Ann Dromey Nicolson peacefully passed away on September 5, 2023 at 11:45 PM surrounded by close loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives through Ann’s example of utmost kindness and compassion.
Ann was born in Ogdensburg NY during a blizzard on Christmas of 1942. She attended Suny Potsdam.State University where she majored in early childhood education and minored in music. Ann was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. She is preceded in death by her father Edgar Nicolson, mother Grace Nicolson, and sister Mary Lee. She is survived by her lifelong partner of 56 years, Linda Ruth Draper, and close friends who loved her dearly.
No one who met Ann forgot her infectious passion for serving others. A beloved member of the Buffalo, New York community, Ann served as a kindergarten teacher for 34 years. In 1990, Ann and Linda built their home in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. They decided to move there permanently from Buffalo, NY in 1997. She would become an impactful member of the animal community, especially through her dedication and service to CARE and then ALAQUA Animal Refuge. Aside from volunteering, Ann enjoyed knitting, reading, trivia, water aerobics, and loving on Nikki as well as all of her four-legged companions.
A celebration of life is scheduled at 2:00 PM, September 23, 2023, at ALAQUA Animal Refuge.
