Anna Rita Hennessey, 100, Niceville, Florida, died December 28, 2022, at Fort Walton Beach Rehab.

A mass of Christian burial will be at 11:00 AM Friday, February 24 at Saint Peter Catholic Church, 100 Francis St., Mary Esther, FL 32569 with burial following at Barrancas National Cemetery near Pensacola, FL.

Mrs. Hennessey was born on April 27, 1922, in Mayfield, Michigan, the daughter of James C. Kuhlman and Catherine H. Ockert Kuhlman.  She graduated from Saint Mary High School of Hannah, Michigan in 1941.  She graduated from Mercy Central Nursing School of Grand Rapids, Michigan.  She married John L. Hennessey on December 26, 1946, in Bose, ID; he preceded her in death in 1992.

She worked as a registered nurse at: Niceville Twin Cities Hospital, Ft. Walton Hospital, a hospital in Kissimmee, Florida near Orlando, Munson Medical Center, and the State Hospital in Travers City, Michigan.  Rita maintained a home with seven children while her husband was often away serving the military.  During retirement, she volunteered at the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and two church daycare centers.  She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and a variety of crafts.  Activities included walking with her friends.

She is survived by four daughters, Nora (Jim) Galvin, Sparta, MI; Barb (Bill) Smith, Port Aransas, TX; Dee (Dave) Hawes, Kansas City, MO; Sharon (John) Cobb, Destin, FL; three sons, John (Zelma) Hennessey, Shumway, IL; Pat (Wan) Hennessey, Denver, CO; Tim (Cathy) Hennessey, Navarre, FL; twelve grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
