Annie Mae Johnson

Mrs. Annie Mae Johnson, age 101, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, April 3, 2022.  Mrs. Johnson was born in 1920 in Mobile, Alabama to Larkin & Lamora Edmondson . 

After retiring as a school secretary from the Okaloosa County School District she went on to enjoy a wonderful life.  A long-time member of First United Methodist Church of Fort Walton Beach, Mrs. Johnson was steadfast in her faith.  Mrs. Johnson enjoyed cooking for and entertaining her family.  She was a caregiver to her mother and uncle.  She was a member of the Bernina Sewing Club, and an avid quilter.  She woke up each morning happy and looked forward to what the new day held.  She always had a kind word of encouragement for each person she encountered.  Mrs. Johnson loved sitting in her rocking chair looking out at the bayou.

Mrs. Johnson is preceded in death by her parents, Larkin & Lamora Edmondson; six siblings; husband of sixty-five years, James M. Johnson, Jr.; and son, James M.  (Johnny) Johnson III.  She is survived by three children, Danny (Marci) Johnson, Anita Dunn, David (Laura) Johnson; daughter-in-law, Marie Johnson and sister-in-law, Mary Pittman; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of loved ones, family, and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 11, 2022 at First United Methodist Church in Fort Walton Beach with Rev. Dave Barkalow officiating.  The family will receive guests for visitation one hour prior to the service.  A private committal service at Beal Memorial Cemetery for immediate family will follow the service.
