Colonel Chinn devoted his life to serving his county for 30 years in the United States Army and 15 years in Civil Service.  He took pride in being one of only 12 that joined the Army as a Private and obtained the rank of Colonel before his retirement.  He served two tours in Vietnam and was stationed in Vicenza, Italy and Taipei, Taiwan and also served in Germany.  He and his family also lived in 10 states throughout his career.  He has received numerous military commendations including the Bronze Star.

Colonel Chinn remembered fondly the years he devoted to Boy Scouts of America with his son achieving Eagle Scout.  He was a devoted family man.  He loved the out of doors and camping with his family.  He loved music from country to classical.
