Deborah "Debbie" Van Hoose Ross of Destin passed away on Sunday, October 7, 2018. She was born on January 21, 1954, in Ashland, Kentucky to John and Wilma Van Hoose. She is preceded in death and welcomed home by her father John and her brother Mark Van Hoose. Debbie moved to West Covina, California and then back to Ashland, KY in high school, where she attended Paul G. Blazer, and met and married her husband of 48 years, Herbert "Randy" Ross. She attended King’s Daughter's Nursing School where she earned her nursing degree. She worked as a registered nurse at King's Daughter Hospital in Kentucky and the Destin Urgent Care Center and Sacred Heart Hospital in Destin, FL. Later she and her husband built a successful small business on the Emerald Coast. Although a dedicated nurse and successful businesswoman, more than anything, Debbie was known for her generous spirit and devotion to her family. A caring and giving friend, she could always be counted on to lend a hand, offer a comforting word, or lighten a room with her quick sense of humor. Above all, Debbie lived for her family. She was the Ross family matriarch, offering sage advice, giving endlessly, and making each day special. Debbie is survived and missed dearly by her husband Randy, mother Wilma, brother "Sonny" Van Hoose, children Chris Ross, Cameron Ross, and Ashley Ross Phillips, and grandchildren, Hagen, Addison, Morgan, Herbert, Beatrice, and Penelope. Visitation will be at the Destin United Methodist Church, 200 Beach Dr, Destin, FL on Friday, October 12 at 12 pm with service to follow at 1 pm, Dr. Barry Carpenter will be officiating. Entombment will take place at Beal Memorial Cemetery, 316 NW Beal Pkwy, Fort Walton Beach, FL.
