Doris Ward Powell

Doris W. Powell age 83 of Destin, Florida went to join her Eternal Companion Husband on Wednesday, October 9, 2019.  She was born on July 19, 1936, in Memphis, Tennesse to Robert B. and Verna Ryon Ward.  She had been a resident of the area when she and her husband moved here in 1957. She was Presbyterian by faith and a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church in Destin, Florida.  She loved her church and her family.  She lived for her family and being a mother was especially special to her.  Her family would say “she did a great job of it”.  She also loved Gardening and going to lunch.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband Richard “Pete” Powell, three brothers and one sister.  Survivors include her children; son Richard W. Powell of Indianapolis, Indiana and daughters; Pam Carroll of Destin, Florida and Kim Robinson (Scott) of Destin, Florida; four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  She will be loved and missed by all who knew and loved her.  “Thank you momma for everything”.   Saturday, October 12, 2019 at First Presbyterian Church of Destin, 154 Calhoun Ave, Destin Florida.  The family will receive friends for a time of Visitation at 10:00 am; Funeral service at 11:00 am with Rev. Lindsay Moffett officiating;   Burial will follow at Destin Memorial Cemetery, 111 Stahlman, Destin, Florida.
