Edith Geraldine Adam Strickland was a retired nurse, military spouse, and a loving mother and grandmother. She passed away peacefully on October 28th, 2021 at the age of 92. She met the love of her life, Randall Woodall Strickland, in Houston Texas. Together they had four children: Barbara Pennington, Deborah Wei, Cheryl Hoey, and Michael Strickland. Always up for an adventure, she and Randall raised their family in eight states and Japan during his military tenure before settling in Destin, Florida.
Edith had a long and successful nursing career, including working as a psychiatric nurse for Okaloosa County’s Mental Health Unit and as a volunteer nurse in Guatemala. In her later years, Edith was an avid world traveler, bridge player, volunteer hospice worker, and a proud and loving grandmother of nine grandchildren. Edith lived each of her days with an enduring sense of grace, style, wit, and generosity. Her legacy of living life to the fullest and caring for others will be carried on in the hearts of the many friends, family, and extended family whose lives she touched.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, February 20, 2022 at 2pm at Destin United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Destin United Methodist Church or Harvest House in Destin, Florida.
