Elizabeth M. Cassell

Elizabeth "Betty” Mae Cassell, age 87, went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 23, 2021.  Betty was born September 1, 1934 to James and Beatrice Coward in Knoxville, TN.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Cassell.

Betty started working at 15 for $0.50 an hour as a Floral Arrangement Assistant  for Norton Floral Company.  She began her civil service career in 1966 as a Clerk Typist, GS-2, for the 3207th Munition Maintenance Squadron, Eglin AFB.  She completed her career in 1995 as a Personnel Management Specialist for the 96 Mission Support Squadron, Eglin AFB.

Betty received her Bachelor of Science degree from Troy State University in1984.

Betty had a love for flowers and crafts.  She was a member of the local African Violet Society and quilting chapters and the Embroiderers’ Guild of America.  She was also a member of the Shalimar United Methodist Church.

Betty is survived by her three children, daughter Debbie (Frank) Hartman of TN, son Gary Cassell of FL, and daughter Kathy (Wayne) Drake of AL; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, Jacqueline (EllaGrace, Josh) Clinger, Brad (Kristin; Nathan, Ava) Clinger, Adam (Lena) Drake, and Nikki Drake.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Wounded Warriors Project in memory of a loved one.
