Ethel "Grace" Wells

Grace passed away January 5, 2022, at Hawthorn House in Shalimar at age 93. Grace was born October 8, 1928, in Fremont, Nebraska. Her growing years were in Ohio, where after graduation she began her lifelong career at the Veterans Administration in Chillicothe, Ohio at the age of 17. She moved up the career ladder and was the first woman GS-14 in the VA serving as a traveling auditor. She married Elliott Wells and they enjoyed their life together and retired to Fort Walton Beach.  Elliott predeceased her in 1997.  She was active in many charities and received recognition from the Federated Women’s Club of Fort Walton. She entertained family and friends with love and amazing grace. She was the daughter of Harley Lewis Byllesby and Julia Ellefson.  She was the sister of Kermit, Bonnie and Donna Jean who predeceased her.  She is survived by her daughter Priscilla A. Craig and grandson Matthew E. Craig.  Nephews Garry Byllesby, Marc Triplett, Eric Triplett (Brenda Breil), nieces Karen Monosco and Jamie Featherston (Richard).  She also leaves behind a multitude of other family and friends. She will be sorely missed by all those who knew her. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. A gathering of friends and family will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2022 from 12:00 – 1:45 pm at McLaughlin Mortuary 17 Chestnut Avenue, S.E., Fort Walton Beach.  Burial Services will be held at 2:00pm at Beal Memorial Cemetery. The family asks that in lieu of flowers that you make donations to the Trinity Lutheran Church Building Fund or your favorite charity.The family would like to thank Emerald Coast Hospice and Billie Wilson for their loving care.
