Forrest Dalton

June 18, 1980 ~ December 12, 2021 (age 41) 41 Years Old

Tribute

Forrest Brooks Dalton (Fud), age 41, our most beloved son, brother, family member, and friend passed away on December 12, 2021, in Fort Walton Beach, FL.

Born on June 18, 1980, Forrest lived every day of his life on his own terms, a choice that few have the courage to do.

He attended Choctawhatchee High School where he was an accomplished band member and talented runner.

Forrest was the fifth generation to devote his life to the local waters.  Forrest grew up fishing for pompano on the quiet beaches of 30A.  His adolescence was spent on Choctawhatchee Bay, flying hulls on Hobie cats and fishing for speckled trout. Throughout the course of his life, he became an accomplished fisherman and boat captain.  Of his many achievements, he earned 2019 Private Captain of the year, and numerous other awards in the Destin Fishing Rodeo.

He took great pride in working alongside his father in their family business. Working closely with his father molded Forrest’s character into a man that he was.  He was known for his bold heart, laser sharp wit, and an intense passion for life.

Forrest epitomized living life to the fullest every day.  He loved his family, friends, fishing, and traveling the world.  He enjoyed spending time sailing with his parents, going fishing and diving with his friends, and hanging out with his horses at the barn, whom he fondly referred to as “the boys.”

Forrest will be missed every day by his father, Michael Dalton, his mother, Anna, his brothers, Jacob and Griffin, his sisters, Orie and Beth, his grandmother, Jane Brooks, his aunt, Kay Brooks, his sisters-in-law, Catie and Laura, his brother-in-law, Jon, his niece, Avery, his many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and great friends.

He was welcomed to his eternal home by his paternal grandfather, Forrest Adolph Dalton; paternal grandmother Eleanor R. Dalton (Waldrop); and maternal grandfather Robert W. Brooks.

Even though Forrest was taken too soon, he lived a life full of adventure and was always surrounded by people who adored him. Remember him when the sun glistens on the water, there is a hint of salt air in the breeze, and every time you hear the sound and feel the excitement of a fish taking drag.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Alaqua Animal Refuge or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

The family will receive friends at a gathering held at McLaughlin Mortuary, Fort Walton Beach, FL on Friday December 17, 2021, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, with service beginning at 1:00 PM. Graveside service will be at Brooks Memorial Cemetery immediately following.

After the graveside service, there will be a Celebration of Life at Fort Walton Yacht Club in Fort Walton Beach, FL on Friday December 17, 2021, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
