Frank S Barkocy

SMSgt Frank S Barkocy 

Frank passed away peacefully at his home on March 26th, 2024. 

Frank was born on September 14th, 1937 in Cleveland, Ohio to Frank and Elizabeth Barkocy (Gergely). He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Yoshiko “Yoshi” H. Barkocy and his only son Frank Steven Barkocy III. Frank is survived by his loving daughter Elizabeth Juneko and grandchildren, Madison, Lily, Macy, and Evie. After graduation from high school, Frank joined the United States Air Force and served from 1956 until 1985 before retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant. Frank, a Vietnam Veteran, was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal in 1969 and served as Wing Weapons Manager with the 347th Tactical Fighter Wing. After his military retirement, he worked at Uptown Station overseeing groundskeeping operations and other projects. Frank enjoyed working around the house, reminiscing with his VFW brothers, and casino trips with his daughter.  Affectionately known as “Papoo” to his grandkids, he enjoyed spending time with them. He was always their personal chauffeur to and from school and an avidly dedicated supporter of their afterschool events. 

Funeral services will be held at McLaughlin Mortuary, 17 Chestnut Ave SE Fort Walton Beach, on Thursday, April 4th, 2024 at 2:00pm with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow services at Beal Memorial Cemetery, 316 Beal Pkwy NW, Fort Walton Beach.
