Gerald Brunson Roper

Gerald Brunson Roper, age 76, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida passed away in a local healthcare facility on Friday, January 11, 2019.  He was bor July 16, 1942 in Crenshaw County, Alabama to Ealum Malachi and Eva Roper.  He was Methodist by faith and had attended First United Methodist Church of Fort Walton Beach, Florida.  He had been a resident of the local area since 1965.  Some of his favorite hobbies he enjoyed were gardening and antiques.  Gerald began his career as a school teacher in 1965 and continued for 53 years.  He was a very professional and dedicated well respected teacher who loved his students.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents and brother, David Roper.  He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Barbara; daughter, Pamela Olson of Huntsville, Alabama; three grandchildren, Chloe Page Fowler, Bianca Jade Olson and Liam Eric Olson; sister, Lola Vae Becker of Crestview, Florida; two nieces and three nephews.  Following his wishes, he will be cremated with a Celebration of Life to be held at a later date.
