James Donald Hurlbert

Retired Senior Master Sargent James Donald Hurlbert passed away in Panama City, Florida on March 12, 2024.  Jim was born on April 28, 1930, in Jacksonville, Florida, the 8th son to Mary and George Hulbert.  At a young age he enlisted in the USAF and served for 22 years, many of those years in the Aerospace Defense Command. Florida was his beloved home and he retired to Ft. Walton Beach in 1969.  After this he continued to use his expertise in aircraft weaponry while working for civilian contractors.
While stationed in San Antonio, TX, Jim met his bride and wife of 71 years, Lenora.  They became a military family with the addition of their 3 daughters.  
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and seven brothers, his beloved daughter, Brenda Jordan, and son-in-law Wayne Simmons.  He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Lenora, daughters Lisa Simmons and Karen Napier (Ronnie) as well as grandchildren Wayland, Joshua, Samuel and Jessie Simmons, Haley Chaney and Nora Wyant, Dale and Douglas Jordan, Katie Kelley, Monica Halvorson and Roxanne Rich and 24 great grandchildren.
Family will greet friends and family from 1:00 PM till 2:00 PM on March 19, 2024 and have a funeral service at 2:00 PM at Mclaughlin Mortuary with burial to follow at Sunset Cemetery with full military honors.
