JanEtte F. Engel passed away on September 9, 2022 after a brief second battle with cancer.
Jan was born on October 26, 1941 in Steubenville, Ohio to James H. and Francis S. Toner.
She was married on August 6, 1966 to Norbert W. Engel in Frankfurt/Main, Germany and moved
back to the US in 1979 with her husband and three sons, Christopher, Sebastian and Jeremy,
where they bought the Marina Motel on Okaloosa Island in Fort Walton Beach.
In 2005 the Engel’s moved to Baker, Florida.
Jan also was a very happy and fun loving person who had many friends and organized gatherings like parties in our home in Shalimar and had a great social life. I remember especially a costume party which was unbelievably funny and at Christmas we had part of the Choctaw High school choir in our large living room entertaining friends and neighbors with Christmas Carols
She loved animals and my gift to her of a horse opened a new and always dreamed of world for her, and eventually got us to move to Baker. She just adored her "palomino paint”
Horse, and she named her “SUNFLOWER” which was her favorite flower.
Her loving, compassionate and generous personality left an impact on people wherever she was and she kept friendships alive until her death, especially with the ones she grew up with
Especially those who lived far, far away. She loved Life and people.
JanEtte is predeceased by her brother James Toner and her grandson Julian S. Engel.
She was a devout Catholic, Mother and Grandmother and an exceptional, wonderful and loving
Wife. ---- We miss her very much——
