Retired USAF Chief Master Sergeant Jimmy Wade Bobbitt died peacefully on 7 August at the age of 74. Funeral services will be at First Baptist Church of FWB on 12 August, with viewing at 10:00 and service at 11:00. Jimmy is survived by his spouse Rebecca Bobbitt; his sons James, Michael, and Maurice; his grandchildren Nicole, Tyler, Laila, and Grayson. He is preceded in death by his father Willie; his mother Virginia; and his sisters Peggy and Betty. Chief Bobbitt started his Air Force career in 1960 at Gunter Air Field and ended his career at Site C-6 on Eglin Air Force Base after serving honorably for 28 years. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam and later his focus was on Aerospace Defense, serving terms in Korea, Alaska, Iceland, and Greenland. He earned many medals, ribbons, and other distinguished awards, such as the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, and the Humanitarian Service Medal. After the Air Force, Chief Bobbitt completed an undergraduate degree in Computer Programming from Troy State University and stayed active in the community. He had an incredible work ethic and enjoyed talking and helping people he met. He enjoyed bowling, listening to country music, playing cards, reading books, and dominoes. Friends are invited to join the family for a graveside memorial service at 10 AM on Monday, Aug. 14, 2017 at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, FL.
