Julie R. Shirley

Julie Rose Smith Shirley passed away on June 3, 2022, at 53 years of age. She was born on January 8, 1969, in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, where she lived her entire life. In 1987, Julie graduated from Fort Walton Beach High School. After high school, she attended Northwest Florida State College and the University of West Florida, receiving her degree in Criminal Justice.

Julie met the love of her life, Bob, while working at Cinco Cinema, one of her first employers. She was also employed with Gulf Power, Cox Communications, Okaloosa County School District, and Northwest Florida Ballet Academy. Julie and Bob married in 1995. They had two sons, Travis, 24, and Jason, 22. Her love and devotion for Bob, Travis, Jason, and her fur babies were unrivaled.

            Julie had such a zest for life, and she was rarely without her mega-watt smile.  She was an animal ambassador, especially for those needing rescue. Her love for adventure was manifested in her devotion to travel, exercise, Disney, roller coasters, and horror movies. Julie was loved and cherished by all who knew her. She will be missed more than words can express.
