Laura Kathryn (Farra) Bodily was born March 3rd 1926, in Letart Falls, Ohio. She was the daughter of Floyd and Mona Farra. She joined a family of four brothers (Floyd Farra, Joseph Farra, Ray Farra, and Ralph Farra) and two sisters (June Farra & Evenly Farra).
After graduating high school, she moved to Lima, Ohio, where she worked as a nursing assistant for the Catholic Hospital. While at the hospital, she met a patient by the name of Curtis S. Bodily. Prior to his discharge, Laura purchased clothing for Curtis as his had been removed upon admittance. Little did Laura know, this act of kindness and caring for others would forever change her life. One day, Curtis showed up at her residence, met her acquaintance, and courted her until she agreed to marry him on August 29, 1950, in Franklin, Virginia.
While Curtis worked with a company building water towers, Laura and Curtis traveled much of the United States.
On August 18, 1951, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the first of four daughters Shirley Rose was born. Connie Lou was born on February 17, 1954, in Rome, Georgia. Donna Joy was born on December 10, 1956, in Lynchburg, Virginia. Finally, the youngest daughter, Cindy Ann was born on December 21, 1959, in Hartsville, South Carolina.
In 1960, Laura, Curtis, and the daughters moved to Fort Walton Beach. Laura and Curtis decided to place roots into the ground and bought land. In 1965, Laura and Curtis built their red brick house and lived there until the Heavenly Father called upon each of them.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed growing strawberries, quilt making, ceramics, needlepoint, family genealogy, coin collection, and attending her grandchildren’s activities. She loved spending time telling family stories with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Laura’s memory will be kept alive by Shirley and Bradley Utz, Connie Fry, Donna Kelly and Thomas Kelly, Cindy Ann Meyers, Brandy Leona Clayton and Thaddeus Clayton, Sr., Eric Vincent Meyers, Christina Roberts, Judith and Yann Tanini, Tasha Lee Meyers, Thaddeus Clayton, Jr., Savana Reed, Maya Graham, Shayla Marshall, Camron Roberts, Adele & Eloise Tanini, Thelma Stephenson and Maurine Pugmire, and Yvonne Theodore.
