Louise Postell Meyers was born November 28, 1925 in Selma, Alabama to Walter and Bessie Bankster. She passed away February 10, 2021 in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. She grew up in Marion, Alabama where, at the age of 13 she began playing piano or organ in churches. She attended and graduated from Perry County High School and Judson College in Marion. Louise moved to Fort Walton Beach in 1951, where she taught school, worked for Florida Department of Public Welfare and US Civil Service at both Hurlburt and Eglin Air Force Base. In 2013 she was elected to the Okaloosa County Women’s Wall of Fame for her outstanding work in the community and church. She was a member of the Pilot Club, League of Women Voters, American Association of University Women and was an elder in the First Presbyterian Church. Louise was a talented loving, caring, giving person and will be missed by many. She was predeceased by her parents, her first husband Forrest Postell, and her second husband Roy Meyers. She is survived by her step-daughters Debbie Lane and Ann Meyers, 3 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held at McLaughlin Mortuary from 9 – 10 am on Thursday, February 18, 2021, followed by funeral service, also at McLaughlin Mortuary. In lieu of flowers the family request a memorial to First Presbyterian Church or the charity of your choice.
