Marilynn Kottmann Reinlie, 92, passed away August 4, 2020 after a lengthy illness. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Robert "Bob" Laingor Reinlie, Sr. and her parents, Henry and Lydia Kottmann.
Marilynn was born in Seymour, Connecticut on September 8, 1927, where she resided until her senior year of high school when her father transferred with his job to Chicago, Illinois. It was in Chicago that she met Bob. They were married in 1947 and began their family. As a military family, Bob's career took them to Detroit, Michigan; Austin, Texas; Montgomery, Alabama; Rancho Cordova, California; Madison, Wisconsin and Birkenfeld, Germany before settling in Fort Walton Beach in 1965. Marilynn spent many hours at little league baseball games, marching band competitions, ballet performances, card games and even jacks on the floor as she stayed involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren. For many years she was a volunteer at the Fort Walton Beach Medical Center and with Sharing & Caring. An exceptional cook, she hosted countless dinners for family and friends-there was always room for one more at Marilynn's table. She and Bob enjoyed travel, bowling, golf and dancing. But the most important activity she did for her family was to pray for them.
Marilynn is survived by her children, Susan DeVaux (Larry) of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; Bob (Ellen) of Florence, Alabama; Dick (Carla), Shalimar, Florida and Jeff (Mary) of Shalimar, Florida. She is also survived by grandchildren, Glenda Murphy, Robin Malaznik, Kenneth Moerscher, Lauren Edwards, Colleen Hildebrandt, John Reinlie, Brooke Reinlie, Blair Reinlie, Meredith Strickland and Evan Strickland and 14 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Meridian Memory Care Unit for their loving care of Marilynn over the last 2 years. They are also exceedingly grateful to Chad Ellsworth and VITAS Hospice for their compassion and support during her final days.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Children's Fund, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. Due to the CoVid-19 Pandemic, there will be a private memorial service for Marilynn's family at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 363 Miracle Strip Parkway, Fort Walton Beach with Pastor Jerry Hogue officiating the service.
