Mark Randolph Conte, 93, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida passed away on September 23, 2021, after a 4 year battle with cancer.
Mark was born Mario Petaccia on June 5, 1928, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He attended Florida State University where he studied creative writing. He later went on to teach there.
Mark was an established author. He had published fiction, poetry, articles, and interviews in over 67 publications. He was the author of 11 books. He was director of the Florida State University Poet series, appointed Master Poet by the Florida Arts Council, and assistant director of the FSU CPE.
Mark is preceded in death by his parents, Nicola Petaccia and Anna Centobene, his brother Rudolph Petaccia, sisters Gabriella and Melanea Petaccia, and his son Perry Petaccia. He is survived by his grandchildren.
