My earthly life began on a Wednesday Evening around 6:00 p.m. on April 28, 1937 in my grandmother’s home in Grady, Alabama. I was the second child born to Lucile Harris Bigger and A.J. Bigger along with my older sister Janey and my younger brother Alvin. I was very blessed to have been raised in a Christian home and lived my younger years on a cattle farm in rural Alabama. After graduation from high school, I attended and graduated from Troy State College with a teaching degree and immediately moved to Fort Walton Beach and began a career in teaching which lasted for 35 years. In 1959 I married my husband, Don and inherited two precious children, Cindi and John. I later gave birth to Lee and Kathi. All of these children have been a great blessing to me, as well as my grandchildren. My life has been centered around my Christian faith and I have been an active member and worshipped with my “church family” at First United Methodist of Fort Walton Beach where I served in several ministries, including Emmaus, United Methodist Women, Sunday School, Vacation Bible school teacher and several committees. My earthly departure and entrance into my eternal life with my Lord and savior was on October 10, 2018. I was preceded in death by my parents, brother and husband. I am survived by my Children, Cindi Yarbrough of Cumming, Georgia; John Pope and wife Cris of Pensacola, Florida; Lee Pope of Fort Walton Beach, Florida and Kathi Voytek and husband Jim of Grady, Alabama; seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren; sister Janey Stephens of Madison, Alabama and many dear friends and church family members. If you wish to honor my life, I would prefer (in lieu of flowers) contributions to be made to First United Methodist Church of Fort Walton Beach, Florida or to the United Methodist Children’s Home. My Celebration of Life will be at First United Methodist Church of Fort Walton Beach, Florida on Saturday, November 3, 2018 with visitation at 10:00 a.m. and the service at 11:00 a.m. both in the sanctuary.
