Mary "Kitty" Catherine Butler

Mary Catherine Evans Butler of Mary Esther, Florida, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend passed away on March 20, 2023.

Mary (Kitty) was born on May 28, 1930, in Tallassee, Alabama to Crawford and Beatrice Evans.  She was a devoted wife, and loving mother and truly loved her family with all her heart.

Kitty enjoyed crocheting, flower arranging, ceramics, bowling, crafts, and living life.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her high school sweetheart and loving husband Thomas “Heflin” Butler, daughter Cathy Lynn Hellmann, granddaughter Jennifer Leigh Altizer, and siblings Bertha Hagwood and Preston Evans.

She is survived by her daughters Terry Ann (Rick) Zelius, and Janice Elaine (Phill) Altizer; grandchildren Shannon (John) Geiger, Todd (Rachel) Altizer, Allison (DJ) Konopka, Cayla Morgan, Lindsi Hellmann, Christian Zelius; great-grandchildren Courtney (William) Merriman, Ashton (Peyton) Moran, Jason and Brayden Konopka, Hayleigh and Madison Morgan DuBose, Olivia Altizer, Serenity Hellmann Betts, and Logan and Maecy Zelius.

Pallbearers will be Rick Zelius, Phill Altizer, Todd Altizer, DJ Konopka, John Geiger, Bryan DuBose, and Honorary Pallbearers Jason and Brayden Konopka.

Thank you to the Beacon of Gulf Breeze, Beacon Medical, and Covenant Inpatient Hospice Center of West Florida Hospital for the loving care given to our Mother (Miss Kitty).

Visitation will be March 27, 2023, from 9:00 – 10:00 with services following at 10:00 AM, McLaughlin Funeral Home, 17 Chestnut Avenue SE, Fort Walton Beach, FL.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Care or Alzheimer’s Foundation.
