Orace "Lloyd" Brooks

Lloyd Brooks, 54 passed away at home in Destin Florida from cancer on January 28, 2023. He was surrounded by his loving wife Jennifer (Loyal) Brooks, and family members including Barry Loyal (Teena), Travis Loyal (Elaine), and William Loyal (Jennifer’s father). He was born on February 17, 1968, in Gordon Georgia, the son of John Brooks SR and Eleanor (Proctor) Brooks.

 Lloyd graduated from Tattnall Square Academy, class of 1986. Following graduation, he attended Georgia College and State University. After college, Lloyd worked for Norfolk Southern Railroad, Brown, and Williamson Tobacco Company and was the Food and Beverage director for Robert Trent Jones Golf Course. Lloyd married his love Jennifer (Loyal) Brooks on March 29, 2003, and they have celebrated almost 20 years together. Lloyd also owned and operated Brooks Lawn Care in Destin Florida.

 Lloyd was a devoted Georgia football fan and avid golfer. He was affectionately known as “The party host with the most” created drinks and food for his friends and family, and was known as a “Master Griller.” Lloyd often took his friends and families pictures and was an expert photographer. Lloyd was a basketball player and champion tennis player in high school and the best dog dad to his and Jennifer’s wonderful dog “Champ Brooks” who passed away in April of 2021.

In addition to his parents, Lloyd was predeceased by his sisters Tasha B. Brookins, Lisa Marie Brooks, Hope B. Owens, and his brother John Brooks Jr.

Survivors include Jennifer (Loyal) Brooks of Destin Florida, his sister Robin B. Brooks of Dublin Georgia and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

In honor of and to celebrate Lloyd’s beautiful life his friends and favorite local band, Cadillac Willy, will be playing at Harbor Docks in Destin FL on Saturday, February 25th from 6 PM to 9 PM.
