Patricia Rose Denney

Patricia “Pat” Rose Denney, age 85 of Fort Walton Beach, FL, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2022.

Patricia was born to Delia Louise Kelly in Sir Johns Run, West Virginia on May 21, 1936. She was a sister to Olin Gloyd and Beverly Whorton. She was raised by her grandparents and lived with her 13 cousins. Patricia was a Korean War veteran, having served for the U.S. Army as a postal clerk. Patricia met her late husband, Richard Malcom Denney, while in the army. The two fell in love, got married, and eventually settled down in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. They had two children, Patti Denise Denney, and Richard DeMone Denney.

She is survived by her son, Richard DeMone Denney, of Fort Walton Beach; daughter, Patti Denise Denney-Friedel (Mitchell P. Friedel) of Metairie, LA; granddaughter, Brittani Nicole Denney of Fort Walton Beach; granddaughter, Bethani Lauren Thibodaux of New Orleans, LA; granddaughter, Abigail Joshlyn Denney of Fort Walton Beach; grandson, Richard Payne Denney (Ashley Wagner) of Miramar Beach and great-granddaughter, Eleanor Abigail Denney.

Patricia was a bookkeeper for her husband’s law firm. When she was not at work you could find her at the bingo hall. She was quick witted, strong-willed, and was never one to mince her words. Patricia was known for loving without measure and being a very supportive wife and mother.

She enjoyed spending time with her friends, playing bingo and dining at Mary’s Kitchen, Joe and Eddie’s and Cracker Barrel. Pat spent her days on her front porch, listening to country music, taking a nap, or catching up with her family and friends on the phone. We are comforted to know that she is with her Lord and Savior joining her husband and siblings, probably playing bingo with the rest of the angels.

A Visitation for Mrs. Denney will be held on Tuesday, April 26 from 1 to 2 p.m. at McLaughlin Mortuary.

Funeral Services will be conducted at McLaughlin Mortuary Chapel, 17 Chestnut Ave, SE, in Fort Walton Beach at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 26.  Burial will be in Beal Memorial Cemetery.
