Richard Barker Sr.

Richard Gale (Buzz) Barker, Sr. died at the age of 91 at his home on November 9, 2020.  A private family service will be held at McLaughlin Mortuary on Monday, November 23, 2020 with burial following at Beal Memorial Cemetery with military honors.  Richard was a career military man serving for 23 years in the Air Force before retiring as a SMSGT.  During this time, he participated in the Berlin Air Lift as well as served in the hospital food facilities at the many bases he was stationed.  After retiring from the Air Force, Richard worked for the Okaloosa County Hospital System and the Enlisted Men’s Widow’s Foundation.  He was a member of the Masonic Alpha Lodge, an avid reader, history buff and western movie fan.  Richard’s beloved wife Marolyn preceded him in death.  He is survived by his children Richard and Connie Barker, Sherrie Barker, and Kelly and Stacey Izer.  His much-loved grandchildren brought great joy to his life and include the late Clint Walker, Jesse Barker, Jaime Barker, McKenzie Izer and Jake Izer.  Richard believed in giving to charitable causes and the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his memory to a charity of the donor's choice. Expressions of love and sympathy can be viewed or submitted online at www.mclaughlinmortuary.com.
