Tribute

Colonel Richard C. “Dixie” Jones, age 91, flew his final mission on Thursday, May 13, 2021.  He was born November 29, 1929 in Payson, Utah, a Mormon Community.  He joins his wife of 53 years, Gini, and they will continue performing other duties assigned to them. He was raised in St. George Ut, also known as, Utah’s Dixie, therefore Colonel Jones was nicknamed Dixie.  After graduating from Dixie High School and Dixie Jr. College, he attended The University of Utah.  Following graduation, he entered the United States Air Force and retired 30 years later in 1985.  During his 30-year career as a pilot, he flew various aircraft and was assigned to numerous different locations.  Dixie was predeceased by his wonderful wife, Gini, mother of their five children.  She was totally dedicated to her family and being an Air Force wife for 30 years.

Dixie is survived by 4 of his 5 children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and a great-great grandchild.

Dixie was an avid tennis player and he directed a Seniors Tennis Group for many years after his retirement.  He will be missed by his family and friends.  A Graveside Burial Service is planned for May 21, 2021, Friday, at Beal Cemetery Fort Walton Beach, Florida at 11am.
