Robert Donald McAllister

Tribute

Robert Donald (Bob) McAllister, age 76, a Destin resident, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2021 at Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital in Miramar Beach, Florida.  He was born on March 12, 1945 in St. Louis, Missouri, to Hobert Donald McAllister and Opal Theresa Walker McAllister. 

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather Raymond Eugene Weindorf, his son Keith Robert McAllister, his brother Dennis Earl Weindorf, and his uncles and aunts Earl Theodore & Bernice Caroline Walker, and Loretta Mae Walker. 

He is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Julia (Julie) Skeen McAllister, his daughter Deborah Ann McAllister, his brother Raymond Gary Weindorf, his aunt and uncle Doris Jean & Gary Abernathy, numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. And last but not least, his beloved dog Dillon.

After graduating from McKinley High School, St. Louis, in 1962, he joined the Army where he served in the 59th Artillery as an Ordnance Supply Specialist in Chicago, IL.  until he was honorably discharged in 1965.

Bob graduated from the Greater St. Louis Policy Academy in 1967, and began his 27.5 year career with the University City, Mo. Police Department.  There he served as a Patrol Officer, a Detective, and retired as a Patrol Sergeant in 1995.

He married Julia (Julie) Skeen on June 16, 1984.  They resided in St. Louis until his retirement, then he followed her career moves to Farmington, MO (1995 -1997),   Monett and Shell Knob, MO (1998 – 2006) and Chanute, KS (2006-2013).  They moved to Destin, FL upon Julie’s retirement in 2013.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at the Gulf Cemetery, 1466 South County Highway 393, Santa Rosa Beach, FL.
