Rose Marie (Srnec) Secedi, born June 2, 1922 in Youngstown, Ohio, to Stephen and Theresa (Stayduhar) Srnec, passed away of heart failure on September 11, 2018 at age 96. Rose lived in her Murrieta, California dream home for 32 years with her husband of 71 years, Walter Joseph Secedi, before relocating to Florida. She passed peacefully in the arms of her husband at her Florida residence.
Rose enjoyed entertaining for family get together and was an accomplished seamstress (sewing for Strauss & Mckelvey’s Department Stores and sewed nun habits for the Catholic Vatican) and baker. Rose was a veteran, enlisted in 1943 as a Technician 5th Grade, 737th WAAC (Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps) Post HQ., AAF. She earned one of 1,000 available positions in the WAAC amongst more than 35,000 applicants. Rose was also a Red Cross volunteer.
Rose will be cremated by McLaughlin Funeral Home at their Okaloosa facility in Fort Walton Beach, FL. Expression of love and sympathy may be placed and viewed on-line by visiting

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Rose’s life at her son resident, 328 Sandy Cay Dr., Miramar Beach, FL 32550, on Sunday, September 16th, at 3:00pm.
A mass will be performed in honor of Rose’s life on Friday, September 21st at the Resurrection Catholic Church, 259 Miramar Beach Drive, Miramar Beach, FL. 32550, at 8:30am.
The immediate Secedi family will have a private memorial service on or about Rose’s wedding day November 27, 1947 of this year.
Rose was preceded in death by her daughter Sandra (Secedi) Pacak/Sesko, and Rose was the last living sibling to join her brothers Nick Srnec, Steven “Pep” Srnec, John Srnec, Tom Srnec, and sisters Kathleen Srnec, Vernie Semic, Mary Burnich, Josephine Misko. Rose is survived by her husband, Walter “Wheeler" Secedi, age 92; daughter Theresa Miller of Miramar Beach, FL; son Joseph (Pamela) Secedi of Miramar Beach, FL; Sandra’s children, son Michael Jr. (Heather) Pacak of Clayton, CA, great-grandchildren Ethan, Kyle, Nicholas, Catalina, and daughter Tami Pacak, of Los Angeles, CA, great-grandchildren Zane, Blaise, and daughter Piper; Theresa’s children, son Christopher (Melinda) Miller of Riverside, CA, and daughter Krystal Miller of Lake Havasu, AZ, and great-granddaughter Zennalee; Joseph’s children, son Daniel (Jennifer) Secedi, great-grandson Nolan, and daughter Shari (Chris) Leu.
