Una M. Heavener passed away on July 31, 2019 in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. She was born Una M. Denton on October 13, 1934 in Streatham Vale, London, England, where she grew up. Una worked at the famous London Windmill Theatre. While working at the Windmill Theatre she met Lt. Wesley B. Collins, USAF. She married Wesley on May 4, 1957 in London, England. Following their marriage they moved to the United States residing at various air force bases in the United States and overseas during the years they were married. They had three daughters. Their final assignment was to Bergstrom AFB, Texas. Una and Wesley later divorced. Una stayed in Austin, Texas where she met James D. Heavener. They married and after several years of living in Austin, Texas, they relocated in retirement to Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Una and Jim made Fort Walton Beach their home. They traveled all over the world together, and after Jim passed away in 2017, she continued to live in their home. Una was a tireless volunteer. She was a Girl Scout leader for many years both overseas and in the United States. She volunteered at Family Services during their overseas assignments and while stationed in the United States. Una continued volunteering at Family Services, Eglin AFB. She was a member of the Fort Walton Beach Medical Center Auxiliary. She volunteered at the local voting polls during local elections and presidential elections. She volunteered and plied her culinary skills at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church for many years. Una’s delight was dancing and she was a valued member of the High Steppers until they disbanded. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Heavener; her father, Harold Denton; her mother, Constance Denton; and a brother, Peter Denton. She is survived by her daughters, Karen Sage, Waverly, Iowa; Candy Collins, Dallas, Texas; Melody Hansen, Round Rock, Texas; two granddaughters , a great-grandson and her family in England. Her “Celebration of Life” service is planned for Friday, August 23, 2019 at 10:00am at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Fort Walton Beach with lunch following the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in her name to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and Ft. Walton Beach Medical Center Auxiliary Scholarship Fund. McLaughlin Mortuary, 17 Chestnut Avenue S.
