Wilma Edwards Hendricks passed away at 89 on May 30, 2019. Wilma will be remembered by all who knew her as a kind, gentle woman. She was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on December 9, 1929 to Holly Taylor and Otilda Gass Edwards. She graduated from LSU with an Elementary Education degree. Her first teaching job was in Lake Charles, Louisiana where she met and married her husband George W. Hendricks, Jr. (Bill) in 1952. She went on to teach for 34 years in several states and Guam. She was also known for her love of music, specifically the violin, which she played from childhood. She was a member of the LSU orchestra while in college and others throughout her life. She continued playing in ensembles until shortly before her death. Wilma leaves behind daughters, Connie Curtis (Roy) and Julie Bullock (Phillip); grandchildren Louis Williams, Lance Williams, Ethan Bullock, Reid Bullock and Hayley Bullock as well as great grandchildren, Layla and Emily Williams, Callen and Asher Bullock. Also surviving are her sisters, Gladys Siebert and Barbara Lowin; sister-in-law Sandra Hammock; many nieces and nephews and close friend Orel Stephenson. Visitation will be held at Shalimar United Methodist Church, 1 Old Ferry Road, Shalimar, Florida on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at 9:30am with the celebration of her life to follow at 10:00am. After the service all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers the family request that you consider a donation in memory of Wilma E.
